Feeling at the end of your rope? You're not alone. In Mark 5, two desperate people sought Jesus out, looking for relief. Jesus' response to them changed their lives. This week in worship, we welcome the hope of Jesus' response to them... and to us!
Lessons from a woman at the end of her rope.
GROWTH GROUP / PERSONAL REFLECTION QUESTIONS
1. Describe a time you felt desperate about a situation in your own life?
2. Did you seek spiritual direction, insight or help?
3. What happened?
4. Who in our community is like this woman, pushed out of community because of some aspect of their life?
5. What would it look like for our church to be as welcoming to them as Jesus was to this woman?
Lessons from a father at the end of his rope.
GROWTH GROUP / PERSONAL REFLECTION QUESTIONS
1. Describe a time you felt desperate about a situation in someone else’s life?
2. Did your faith make a difference? How?
3. Name some things that can build walls between family members.
4. How might it be hard for someone to let go of the things that build walls?
5. What steps might someone take, to change for the sake of others?
6. How open are you to hearing that you may be doing things the build walls?
Next step:
Ask a friend (a friend might be easier than a spouse at first) if they can think of something you might consider changing for the sake of others. Then offer that thing to the Lord in prayer.
