Going Deeper is designed for use with your small group, a friend or on you own. Its aim is to create time for you to spend with God and his word. Do as much or as little as you like. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of our pastoral staff.
1. Pray for the needs of your Life Group, for our church and our leaders, for personal and corporate renewal, and to allow God’s word to transform us.
2. This Sunday, the message in the Embracing God’s Grace series focused on Amazing Grace. What thoughts or questions did the service raise for you? Which thoughts or points encouraged you or posed a challenge to you?
3. Review the 10 “Benefits of Grace” that were mentioned in the message. Which one are you most thankful for? Which one do you find the most difficult to believe or accept in your life? Why?
4. Read Acts 20:24; Rom 5:20-21; 2 Cor 1:12; Eph 3:7. How does Paul view grace? What priority does he give it in his life?

Acts of the Apostles 20:24

Romans 5:20-21

2 Corinthians 1:12

Ephesians 3:7

5. Read Acts 6:8. What does it mean to be “full of God’s grace”? How do we receive grace (see John 1:17; Rom 5:11)? Read 2 Cor 12:9. What lesson did Paul learn about grace (and therefore what we need to learn)?

Acts of the Apostles 6:8

John 1:17

Romans 5:11

2 Corinthians 12:9

6. We’ve referred to Dallas Willard’s quote about grace numerous times: “Grace is God acting in our life to do what we cannot do on our own.” What have you been facing lately that you cannot do on your own? Think not only about obvious areas (like dealing with cancer) but also areas in your spiritual life. Review the 10 “Benefits of Grace” again to think through what areas you need to deepen your trust in Christ.
7. Take a moment of silence as you consider how God is speaking to you. Do you sense an invitation to something new? What concrete steps of response do you want to take? How can your group support you in these steps?
