The Kingdom of Heaven is God's value system.
It is often in conflict with the kingdom of the world around us. We have to decide which kingdom's values we follow. What's true for every follower of Jesus is that Jesus changes what matters.
Jesus confronts our most deeply entrenched values.

We all love "fair."
We didn't have to be taught fairness. We "caught" this from living life. But what we think is fair is often more than just equality or sameness. What we really mean is "I deserve to get what I want, and nothing that I don't want."

The kingdom of heave is unfair and it's the best news you'll ever hear.
Our sin separates us from God. We have no hope of eternal life except that Jesus took the punishment for our sin away from us and took it upon Himself so we could have life forever with God. That's not fair. That's grace.
The only right response is gratitude but we too easily become complacent and begin to believe God "owes me" this grace. Then when life doesn't go the way we want it to, we complain "it's not fair."

Jesus modeled life to the fullest from a different motivation than the world's culture. Instead of asking 'what about me?' Jesus asked, 'what about you?'
What would it take for you to change the concern of your life from yourself to others? Who are you serving today? Will you continue living the 'fairness' way of the world or follow Jesus in the kingdom of heaven's value system serving others?
