Discussion and Application Questions for Group Life Communities
We invite you to use the following questions as you dig deeper into this story from Acts.
Read Colossians 1:27- 2:10
Observe:
-What are key ideas or themes that stand out to you in this passage? What do you learn about Jesus?
-What are the mysteries being revealed?
-What is confusing or unclear to you about what Paul is saying?
Interpret:
-What does ‘Christ is you, the hope of Glory’ mean?
-What deceptive philosophies, human traditions or spiritual forces confuse or distract us from following Jesus?
-Why do you think Paul felt the need to address these issues with the believers?
-What does it mean to be rooted and built up in the faith? Faith in what or who?
Apply:
-Paul borrows words from the athletic world like ‘strenuously contend’ in 1:29 and 2:1. Why is it important to use words from common life and sports in our conversations with people?
-How does the message of Colossians 1:28 apply to you? What do you need in order to be equipped to put this verse into action?
-How can you interpret the phrase ‘christ in you the hope of glory’ so that someone who is not well versed in the scripture might understand?
-Who can you tell this good news this week? What keeps you from sharing it with someone?
