Puyallup Nazarene Church
Speaking of Jesus in a Broken World
We affirm that "the gospel advances in what’s happening now." Why do we find ourselves talking more about what is happening now than talking about Jesus? The whole world longs to know the God of hope and peace, the God who heals.

Discussion and Application Questions for Group Life Communities
We invite you to use the following questions as you dig deeper into this story from Acts.

Read Colossians 1:27- 2:10

Observe:
-What are key ideas or themes that stand out to you in this passage? What do you learn about Jesus?

-What are the mysteries being revealed?

-What is confusing or unclear to you about what Paul is saying?

Interpret:
-What does ‘Christ is you, the hope of Glory’ mean?

-What deceptive philosophies, human traditions or spiritual forces confuse or distract us from following Jesus?

-Why do you think Paul felt the need to address these issues with the believers?

-What does it mean to be rooted and built up in the faith? Faith in what or who?

Apply:
-Paul borrows words from the athletic world like ‘strenuously contend’ in 1:29 and 2:1. Why is it important to use words from common life and sports in our conversations with people?

-How does the message of Colossians 1:28 apply to you? What do you need in order to be equipped to put this verse into action?

-How can you interpret the phrase ‘christ in you the hope of glory’ so that someone who is not well versed in the scripture might understand?

-Who can you tell this good news this week? What keeps you from sharing it with someone?
