QUESTIONS:
1) What’s the favorite thing you’ve gotten for free? Why? Are you someone that follows the rules or breaks the rules?
2)God’s will for you is to live in His freedom. It’s why Jesus died. Where in your life do you feel more imprisoned than free? Maybe it’s a habit, comparison, guilt, religious rules. Why do you think that is?
3)Read Galatians 5:1. Jesus wants us to be free, but we have to do something or we’ll be sucked back into being imprisoned. What do you think “stand firm” means? What do you think it means to live in His grace?
4)Read Galatians 5:2-6. Paul is really concerned about the Galatians – why do you think that is? In verse 6 he narrows the focus to show them what is most important. When we live in His grace, we can live out His love. Why does freedom help us to do that?
5)Every time we mess up, we sin, we get in our head, we are tempted to start believing lies. It’s why if you are a Jesus-follower you have to cling so closely to our status and identity as a child of God, forgiven, loved, free. Read John 8:32. How are we set free? So, what’s the truth about our relationship with God? How, practically, does knowing that help you move towards freedom?
6)Where are you living enslaved? Where are you not living in freedom? Be honest. Do a self-assessment. Where are you believing lies vs. truth? Confess that to God. Ask for His help. Believe His truth.
7)How do you think your life would/could look different if you really lived in God’s freedom for you? This is what He wants for you.
