Faith Church Kansas
Culture Shifts | October 29, 2017
Culture can shape us or we can participate in shaping culture. God desires to reveal to us the Kingdom of God - the fullness of His goodness. How do we become a current of God’s goodness within the streams of culture? How do we interact in a culture where the subject of God is increasingly thought of as irrelevant? In this teaching series, we will learn to insulate our heart with His presence so our lives don’t become isolated in places of culture. We will expose fear and find freedom, so that the fruit of our lives is good. As believers, we want to interact and influence our culture in ways that impart God’s goodness. We want to actively bring the Kingdom of God to earth.

(1) As a group, play a quick round of “Would you rather...”
...Sit on the edge of a tall building or handle snakes?
...Speak to crowd of 1,000 or be trapped in an elevator by yourself
...Go running with the bulls or swim with sharks?
(feel free to make up your own, too)

(2) Most of the lies that the enemy whispers to us so that we walk in fear boil down to one central lie: “God cannot be trusted.” Why do you think that is the case? Can you give an example from your life of how this lie caused you to walk in fear?

(3) Read Ephesians 6:10-17. What are a few things we learn from this passage about fear and how we overcome it?

(4) The big idea from Sunday’s message was “Fear can (1)cripple our potential, (2) cause us to misuse our purpose and (3) it can limit our passion.” Do you think fear can limit our ability to impact our culture for God’s Kingdom? How?

(5) Read Psalm 37:1-9 together. What does the scripture say are some remedies to fear?

(6) Is there an area of your life where you are having trouble trusting God, and fear is creeping in?

Close by praying over each other to overcome those fears.
