Jesus turns an audience into an army.

Matthew 9.36-38
Jesus shares His heart, He shows the desperation around us, and He calls His people to be the solution as shepherds.

1. Jesus shares the heart that He intends to develop in you.

“God, you are training me to have a heart of compassion and do something about it.”

2. Jesus shows the desperation around us.

How can I take my next step? Look for the desperate and approach them. Approach people the way Jesus did. He proved He cared. He kept an open stance. He asked questions. “Give me the right words.” Ephesians 6.19
The worst sin is saying nothing.

3. Jesus calls His people to be the solution as shepherds.


“Jesus knew that many in the crowd only wanted a show, a meal, a healing. They came to receive without giving, without commitment. Jesus knew that to change the world he needed to focus on sold out disciples. And he had to take these men through a reshaping process that would leave them looking like himself. His intention was to pour himself into those who would take up their crosses and follow him. And his method worked. The world heard about God’s saving grace because he developed fishers of men.” Jim Putman.

If you are part of the crowd, that is ok right now.

But Jesus intends for you to spend time getting to know His heart. He calls you to undivided loyalty and allegiance. He will be training you to be a Pastor of your living room. The Pastor of the place you are employed. The Pastor of your neighborhood in order to care for people and turn them into sold-out disciples who learn how to disciple people.

Would you repeat after me, “I will be trained to Pastor and Shepherd people.”
