Stuck: Facing Temptation

1) You need help that is greater than your own strength when facing temptation.
A. it is the Holy Spirit who gives you discernment to recognize temptation for what it is.
B. It is the Holy Spirit who gives you self-control to overcome.
C. The Holy Spirit cannot fill you if you are filled with yourself.
2) Temptation is not sin.
A. Jesus was tempted but did not sin.
B. Temptation is not a sign of spiritual weakness.
3) Temptation can be very subtle.
A. Temptation will often come when you are spiritually strong.
B. Temptation will often come when you are in the right place.
C. Temptation will come at points of weakness.
4) Temptation is deceptive.
A. Temptation deceives you into believing you can have the right things the wrong way.
B. Temptation deceives you into thinking you can have all the world has to offer without consequences.
C. Temptation deceives you into thinking you can put yourself into dangerous situations and expect God’s protection.
5) The Bible is your weapon against temptation.
A. every time Jesus was tempted, He quoted Scripture.
B. Temptations fall into one of three categories: the flesh, the world, or pride
C. The Bible deals with the flesh, the world, and pride
