Discussion and Application Questions for Group Life Communities
We invite you to use the following questions as you dig deeper into this story from Acts.

Read Acts 16:16-34

Do you wear any religious jewelry or clothing? What are the benefits?

Observation (be curious, imagine yourself in the story)

-What stands out to you in the telling of the story?

-Who are the main characters in this story?

-Where do you see God intervening on the disciple’s behalf in the story?

-What other observations stand out to you from this account?

Interpretation (uncover the 'why' behind the story, why are certain details included?)

-Is it OK for followers of Jesus to get 'greatly annoyed' (Acts 16:18)?

-In what ways does this account help to establish the church in this community of Philippi?

-Why did Paul wait until after he was imprisoned to say he was a Roman citizen? Why is Roman citizenship important?

Application (connect the message to your personal life. What is God trying to say to me through this passage?)

-Have you ever been falsely accused of something? How did God provide a way out?

- Do you think it is OK to disagree and or petition the government as Christians?

-Are you willing to suffer misunderstanding or physical threat for your faith in Jesus? In what form do you see suffering happening to Christians today?

-How can you demonstrate joy in the midst of the stressful times around us?
