RECAP: HOW TO NEIGHBOR
This series isn’t about privacy fences or taking care of your yard. Jesus called us to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves. It’s the greatest commandment. In this series we’re looking at how to neighbor to take steps into relationships, not religion. Today we talked about empowering the power. It’s not about reaching down, it’s reaching out. We aren’t looking to rescue others. We need to relate to people. We’ve all been poor in some way and God’s love can restore our brokenness.

1) Have you ever caught yourself complaining about “First World Problems”?
2) Why do you think it’s hard to relate to people at different financial situations, especially those facing financial poverty?
3) Read Matthew 22:36-40. There’s a unique connect between our relationship with God and our relationship with others. How do you see those relationships intertwining?
4) Read 1 John 3:17-18. What do you think it means to love in action & truth?
5) We talked about how we are all broken and poor in spirit. How can that perspective change our view of people?
6) What type of poverty have you personally experienced: financial, spiritual, relational, other? What gets you through it?
7) We want to relate to people, not rescue them. Reach out to other, not reach down. How does that change how we serve others?
8) How has serving others changes your relationship with God?

PRAYER
God, that you for reach out to me and fill my life. Help me not to think highly of myself. Help me to see others as you see them. I want my life to display your love. Amen.
