Welcome to Traders Point
We're glad you're here. Please feel free to use this as a tool to follow along with the sermon and to take some of your own notes. The current series is Base Camp.
https://www.tpcc.org/basecampBase camp is necessary if you’re going to reach the summit.
Base camp is never supposed to replace the summit.
Relational Evangelism: we remove unnecessary barriers that keep people from knowing, trusting, and following Jesus.
We believe that Jesus is the only one who can change anyone … and he is available to everyone.
Proselytize: an attempt to convert someone from one religion, belief, or opinion to another.
Evangelism: I found something good that’s been given to me and I want to tell you about it. You can then decide for yourself.
“Those who are far from God are first drawn towards Christians and then to Christ. Unfortunately, not all Christian attract. Like a turned magnet, some repel.” —Haddon Robinson
I care enough about you to tell you the truth … in love.
I care more about you than being right.
Make fewer statements and ask more questions.
Don’t be combative or offensive.
I’d love to tell you sometime what God has done in my life whenever you feel comfortable with that.
At some point, you’ve got to clarify what Jesus is offering.
“I don’t respect people who don’t [proselytize] … If you believe there is a heaven and hell, and people could be going to hell or not getting eternal life or whatever, and you think it’s not really worth telling them this because it would make it socially awkward. How much do you have to hate somebody to not [proselytize]? How much do you have to hate someone to believe everlasting life is possible and not tell them that? If I believe, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that a truck was bearing down on you, there’s a certain point that I tackle you, and this is more important than that.” —Penn Jillette
