Today we continued our series GOD AT THE MOVIES. We took a look at the newest Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Jack Sparrow is the ultimate pirate. As the song says, a pirate's life is full of lies and stealing loot, plundering not giving a hoot. While we might not talk like a pirate, we often take the easy way out and steer our boat into dangerous waters. The book of Proverbs warns us that this type of crooked life won’t lead us to treasure. Instead, we want to pursue integrity. It might be hard but it won’t sink our own ship. Instead it can put wind in our sails and guide us to safe waters.

1) Have you seen any of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies? Have you been to Disney world and the pirate ride?

2) What do you think of when you hear the word - INTEGRITY?

3) What does it look like to live with integrity? How have you seen that it pays off? How have you seen a lack of integrity sink someone's life?

4) Read the Proverbs below. How do you see those verses playing out in everyday life?

5) Read 1 Timothy 6:7-11. We can build integrity and character in our lives by pursuing righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. List a step in each of those areas on how we can build that in our everyday lives.

6) For further study, read Titus 2:7-8, Romans 5:3-4 and 2 Peter 1:3-8. How is building integrity defined in these passages?

God you see me when no one else is looking. You know the real me. I want to live in such a way to please you and walk in your ways. Not just because you know everything I do, but because your ways bring real treasure and safety to my life. Help me to know more of your ways. Give me wisdom. Give me conviction to follow you even when it’s hard. Guide my thoughts, my decisions and my life. Amen.
