In order for us to hear God when He’s speaking, leading, we’ve at least got to be somewhat available. This means taking the time to make room in our thinking for God to not only inspire our faith, but our imagination.
Our faith goes the way of our thinking. And that’s really the catalyst behind this talk, those little decisions, those choices we make, one day at a time to become more God dependent, more God available.
Think and imagine supernatural. In other words, think and imagine like God.
Remember last week we talked about God speaking to Elijah in a still small voice? Before that took place, Elijah told the King Ahab, “I hear the sound of the abundance of rain.” He said this without a cloud in the sky. So he sent his servant back seven times. Then there was a cloud the size of a hand.
Let today’s talk inspire a new way of thinking. Just take one step of faith. But take it with expectation. Because you do hear that still small voice.
John 10:27 (NKJV)
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
So follow Him. Declare boldly today that you hear the sound of the abundance of favor, breakthrough, increase, healing, the abundance of God’s power in my life.
It’s the little things. It’s one decision at a time, one day at a time.
Psalm 68:19 (NKJV)
“Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits”
If we honestly believe God daily loads us with benefits, we should get up every morning actually counting on them?
It’s those little steps, little adjustments that keep us moving closer to our purpose.
Every Christian’s gotta get this, our new lives can only be found in Him, willfully giving our lives to Him is the key to our success.
What parts of your life are you still holding on too? Unwilling to trust Him with it?
God rarely asks us to take giant leaps of faith, usually He’s simply encouraging us to take small, everyday steps discovering the life Jesus died that we could have. He daily loads us with blessings.
Taking these everyday steps allows our faith to be strengthened. But here’s the thing, we’ve got to take the first one in order to discover the next one. If you’re born of God, then you’re designed to live according to what He says, not simply by human intelligence.

In John 2, Jesus’ mother gives us very clear and simple instructions: “Whatever He says to you, DO IT!”
Luke 1:30 (NKJV)
“Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.”
But until we come to the place where we honestly acknowledge and accept the Bible as Jesus actually talking to us right now, the things Jesus tells us will stay some mysterious impossibility.
His Word is eternal, spiritual, the written image of Himself. In Numbers He said, I am not human, I cannot lie.
Real faith will always take us beyond our own abilities.
One of the most valuable lessons we can learn from our ancestors in the Old Testament that we will never enter into the life God has for us as long as we refuse to trust Him. The Israelites remained stuck in the wilderness, wandering through life, never getting to experience the promised life God told them was theirs for the taking.
For the New Testament Christian, we have to realize that God is never leading us to do anything out of some religious, legalistic obligation.
At the end of the day, it simply comes down to exactly what do you believe. Because the same way we receive Christ is how we live in Him.
Matthew 9:28-30 (NKJV)
And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” And their eyes were opened.

The thing I appreciate about the life of Jesus is that He not only shows us what a life in Christ looks like, He empowers, encourages and instructs us in how we are to live it. The righteous are to live by faith. Jesus said, “According to your faith, let it be to you.”
Romans 3:3-4 (NKJV)
What if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar...

Psalm 91 (paraphrase)
He who lives in the presence of the Almighty will say of the Lord, He is my God, and I trust Him. He will deliver me from every trap of the enemy. His word is my shield. I will not be afraid of terror, disease or destruction day or night. Because The Almighty is my dwelling place, no evil can touch me and no plague come near me. He assigns His angels over me, they will assist and keep me in all my ways. Because I know Him and love Him, He delivers me and sets me in high places. God told me, “when you call on Me I will answer you; I will be with you in trouble; I will deliver you and honor you. With long life I will satisfy you, And show you My salvation.”

Let God be true and every man a liar!
And for everyone born of God, Jesus gave His Spirit to inspire and empower how to live Psalm 91. The righteous are to live by faith.

On the other side of us saying yes to God lies opportunities that will more than likely be accompanied with fears, uncertainty, opinions, challenges, giants and fortified walls we’ll have to overcome.
Deuteronomy 9:1-3 (NLT)
Listen Israel! Today you are about to cross the Jordan River to take over the land belonging to nations much greater and more powerful than you.
They live in cities with walls that reach to the sky! The people are strong and tall—descendants of the famous Anakite giants. You’ve heard the saying, ‘Who can stand up to the Anakites?’ But recognize today that the Lord your God is the one who will cross over ahead of you like a devouring fire to destroy them. He will subdue them so that you will quickly conquer them and drive them out, just as the Lord has promised.”
Canaan represents going into a new place. Why not make today the day you take that first step into some new places God has had for you all along. Refuse to let fear and unbelief hold you back. Declare today that you are a Psalm 91 Christian.

I hear the sound of the abundance of rain!
