Sermon Outline:
Mark 6:12-13: 12 So they went out and preached that people should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.
1. Proclamation
Jesus sent out the 12 disciples. They went out and preached/proclaimed that the people should repent. The Greek verb metanoeo means to change the mind! Repentance is a change of mind, a change of worldview. What is a worldview? A worldview is a framework from which you view the world and make sense of it.
When we preach/proclaim the Kingdom of God, we give people a new explanation of reality. But is that enough for a worldview change?
When people hear the Kingdom being proclaimed, they can imagine; when they see the Kingdom being performed, they get a new view! A new view for a new worldview!
2. Performance
a. Exorcism
When someone is demon possessed, someone else has the control! Question: who has the control over the addicted person? You can give an addicted person a new explanation… but that’s not enough. That person needs a new experience!
This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.
b. Healing
“You shall call His name Jesus for he will saveHis people from their sins!” The verb sozo also means to heal… Jesus is not only Savior; He’s also Healer!
Healing does not always happen immediately. Often behind the physical ailment there is a spiritual or emotional illness that needs to be healed. Pride! Unforgiveness! Or lifestyle issues! Why would God heal you if you want to continue your self-destructive lifestyle?
