We Are Called to Reflect Jesus
Serving is the heart of Jesus (Matthew 20:26-28)
Serving is the heart of Jesus because Jesus loves people!
Jesus served their physical needs
Jesus served their spiritual needs
If we follow Jesus, if we are being made to reflect Him, we must serve people
The Relationship Partnership of Service between Us and Jesus
Though Jesus provided the miracle, the disciples provided the work
God usually does not do for us what we can do for ourselves and reserves Himself for the tasks only He can do
We need to labor in service - in partnership with Jesus
Service will generally move us closer to Jesus
The Beauty of our Inadequacies
Many believers fail to serve because of their perceived inadequacies
The paradox is in our inadequacies, Jesus reveals His sufficiency (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
Don’t let your inabilities rob you of a life of service that God will bless and miraculously use
If we serve for Jesus, He will bless and multiply and use us to touch more people than we can imagine
The Accountability of Stewardship
Jesus has given every one of us something to serve with in this world
We are responsible to Him for the use of the tools and resources we have been given (1 Corinthians 4:1-2)
When we get to heaven we will all give an account for our stewardship of service (2 Corinthians 5:10)
