1. Give Up
As disciples of Jesus we should make fasting as regular as prayer and giving to those in need.
Fasting is a temporary abstaining from something that is in itself good, in order to intensify our expression of need for something greater. So, biblical fasting is abstaining from food for spiritual purposes.
the practice of fasting is a discipline of acknowledging our full dependence upon the father for what it is that we truly need from him.
Taking a day or two or even one meal to fast removes the control of the clock…and replaces it with time with God.
In Scripture, fasting is almost always connected to dedicated prayer
fasting heightens our spiritual and mental alertness of God’s presence as we focus less on the things of this world and enables us to focus on eternal spiritual realities that are more important.
