Christians in Colossae were new converts to Christianity and they were becoming confused by other philosophies and the culture around them.
Early in the new church's life some confusion and discouragement began creeping into the church. At times there can be these ebbs and flows through our spiritual walk in Christ.
The apostle Paul wrote to these young Christians to remind them of the beauty of the Gospel message. Jesus is enough. It was then as it is today. Our decision to put our faith in Jesus will place us against the flow – potentially against the flow of family, against the flow of your workplace, against the flow of the culture at large. But, man – you stand firm in that.

I. Remember You Have the Good News
The effects of the Gospel are faith, hope and love. The Gospel is Jesus' sacrifice on our behalf that we might have forgiveness of sin, power for living right, and the promise of eternal life. This message is powerful because it's the work of God's Holy Spirit.

Sometimes we need a reminder of what we've got. By the culture around them the Colossian Christians were being told their faith was inadequate.

The lives of the Christians were different than they used to be. They were changed and the Gospel has always been accomplishing the same kind of conversions all around the world.

II. Accept God's Spiritual Wisdom

Roman culture was powerful and brought everything there was to have throughout the Empire. Roman roads and Pax Romana offered wealth and power.

When you question faith being confused and discouraged, Jesus is still enough!
