Your Move
· Ask the Holy Spirit what He is saying to you and what you should do
about it
· Talk about this message with friends and family
· Write down the values you want to hold to as you use your phone and
engage in social media
· Take a day to count how many times you reach for your phone
unprompted
· Consider limiting your social media apps down to one
· Turn off all notifications (especially social media apps) so that way you
choose when you want to engage in an app.
· On your day off move your email app to your back screen
· Consider leaving your phone in the car when you attend family or other
social engagements.
· Be present at game night, soccer games and on dates.
· Consider doing a weekly/monthly social media fast
· Break your streaks on a weekly basis so that you know they do not matter
too much to you
· Invite accountability about the apps you download the sites you visit
· Move smart phone use to a shared space in the home (not alone in your
room)
· Invite your spouse or an accountability partner to access your phone
anytime they want to
· Require approval for apps to be downloaded by your kids by setting up
parental restrictions on all devices
· Inspect your student’s social media accounts from their own devices
· Set up parental controls
· Purchase next level protection for your home/devices
· Don’t wake up to or fall asleep to your devices
· Get an actual alarm clock
· Set a digital curfew
· Question the need for an internetbrowser
· Is it really a necessity that you, or your student have an internet browser
on your phone?
· Question the need for your student to have a smart phone vs a standard
cellphone.
· I recommend a student getting a standard cell phone first and using it up
until age 16
· Have a conversation with your kids/teens about pornography
· Watch some of these videos with your family and friends and discuss them:
