THE INVOCATION:
P: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION:
Pastor: Since we are assembled here to hear God’s Word and to call upon Him in prayer, let us confess before God and one another that we have sinned in thought, word, and deed. Let us realize also that by our own strength we cannot free ourselves from our sinful nature. Therefore we take refuge in our heavenly Father’s infinite mercy, trusting that His grace through Jesus forgives our sins and renews our live.
We confess:
All: Almighty God, have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and lead us to life everlasting. Amen.
Pastor: Almighty God, our heavenly Father, has had mercy upon us and has given His only Son to die for us and for His sake forgives us all our sins. To those who believe in Him, He gives new and eternal life, for “He who believes and is baptized shall be saved.” You are the forgiven children of God!
All: Amen.
THE PSALM FOR THE DAY: Psalm 85:8-10
P: Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints;
C: but let them not turn back to folly.
P: Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,
C: that glory may dwell in our land.
P: Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;
C: righteousness and peace kiss each other.
P: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
C: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
PRAYER OF THE DAY:
P: Lord Jesus, we live in a time of troubles and trials. Ours is a world that seeks peace, but does not know where to find it. Give us Your peace--the peace that passes understanding--that we may, in the midst of a troubled world, live in the confidence that Your love never fails. We ask this in Your name and to Your glory.
C: Amen.
