Important Note about Bible study: In the attempt to make the Bible culturally relevant, there is often the disconnecting of a biblical story from biblical Christianity.

I. Examples from David & Goliath

A. The story is often taught that David's 5 stones are a self-help recipe.

B. The story is often taught that God will defeat your giants.


II. How David & Goliath is to be understood - actually allowing the biblical story to be culturally relevant.

A. David and Goliath is an OT picture of the Gospel of Jesus.

B. David and Goliath teaches that the greatest need for life is God’s grace.

C. David and Goliath teaches that faith must be greater than fear.
