Chestnut Ridge Church
Wise Guy - Part 3
Through God, Solomon wrote the Old Testament book of Proverbs so we could grow in understanding and wisdom, and so we would know what to do and how to respond to various situations in life. The starting point of wisdom is what Solomon calls, "the fear of the Lord."

You’re invited to the ultimate Summer BBQ Bash on July 1, from 12-4 pm at Camp Muffly! It’s a potluck dinner, so bring along a side dish. The church will be grilling up the burgers and hotdogs, and we’ll also provide the drinks and desserts. The pool will be open for swimming, there will be volleyball, and you can compete in a cornhole tournament. So come out, and bring your camp chairs, blankets, and lawn games. You won’t want to miss it!

Wise Guy - Part 3 [June 18, 2017] Tim Haring

It can be hard to learn from our parents because they make mistakes.

Don't focus on your parents' faults; focus on a better future.

Quotes:
“Parents are the last people on earth who should have children.”

“When I was a kid, my parents moved a lot, but I always found them.”
– Rodney Dangerfield

“Children today are tyrants. They contradict their parents, gobble their
food, and tyrannize their teachers.” – Socrates

“Parents were invented to make children happy by giving them something to ignore.” – Ogden Nash

"I think my parents liked me. They put a live teddy bear in my crib.”
– Woody Allen

“When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.”

Focus on your future and not your parents' failures.
A concubine was “a woman, often a servant or slave, with whom a man had regular sexual relations, but to whom he was not married."[1]
