Worship in Prayer
Let’s join together as the church to declare our gratitude and lift our requests to God as we surrender together to His will for us. Praying together is not limited to our gatherings on Sundays, we can pray together daily as the church! Luke 10:25-37 NIV
We don’t naturally think of others and we certainly don’t think of others who need help offering to help us! We like to keep control.
The law expert asked Jesus a good question but it was bent towards his effort and not God’s grace.
God wants us to come to Him with open hearts, willing to be wrong, to learn and to discover His truth. We are not here to impress God. He is the inside story, not us!
The lawyer was happy to help someone in his own circle, someone who agreed with him and someone who made him feel good.
Like the lawyer we can help because we want to justify ourselves.
The inside story is: It is never about you, it is about God and His over-the-top grace!
Both of the Priest and the Levite knew the law about loving God and your neighbour but it didn’t compel them to action.
The Samaritan could have tried to justify not helping because of the treatment that he had received at the hands of others. But he stopped and he helped.
The Samaritan went the extra mile. He gave over and above, sacrificial help. He didn’t just bind up his wounds; he treated him with dignity. He didn’t just care in the moment; he kept on caring. He didn’t just give money; he gave himself.
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God. And that is what we are. 1 John 3:1
God’s love is the over the top. From a human point of view one song writer calls it reckless. From God’s view; He is just being Himself.
Our best love is not enough. Our best efforts are not enough.
The inside story is: It is never about me; it is about God and His
over-the-top grace.
No one ever stops needing God’s extravagant grace. You can’t
out-give God.
When we are justified by Him we are freed to give for His glory. Your heart will be expanded to go the extra mile.
