Missional Praying and Living

Missional Praying and Living

There is a way to live in these day as those who are actually followers of Jesus. We may be very aware of what is threatening. But, instead of reacting, what if we responded with prayer and kept on mission?

The Gospel ("Good News") of Jesus lifts people--persons, groups and cultures!

Acts 4:23-31

When threatened, they prayed.
They prayed for boldness with signs and wonders!
Amazing!

*They were convinced that what happened at Pentecost was applicable in this situation.
*Because they had practiced prayer, following after Jesus, they reverted to prayer in this crisis.
*They knew that the mission wasn’t to minimize their suffering, but to continue bringing the love of Christ into every situation.
*They knew that the battle they were called to fight wasn’t against flesh and blood, but to bring a new reality into the old.
Where do we begin?

*Be converted to Jesus.
*Shift in his direction.
*Ask for boldness with signs and wonders.

Micah 6:8

-What does it mean to raise voices together in prayer? (v. 24)
-How do you interpret the idea that the enemies were really used as a part of God’s plan?
-How might this reference to be filled with the Spirit be similar and different than the other instances of being filled with the Spirit?
-Why do you think the disciples quoted David in Psalm 2:1-2?
