Through It All: Stop Comparing Your Calling

Through It All: Stop Comparing Your Calling

Pain. Anxiety. Frustration. Our struggles don't always have answers in the moment—but even when we can't see it, they always have a purpose. When we’re going through trials, it’s tempting to look at our lives with a perspective of pain. But there’s a purpose in your pain. God never wastes a hurt. He’s preparing you for something far greater through the trials, struggles, and pain you’re experiencing now.

The fastest way to kill something special is to compare it to something else.

Stop Comparing Your Calling

• Sometimes God’s preparation comes packaged as pain.
• Your purpose is not for you. Your purpose is for God.
• You don’t find your purpose. You serve God’s purpose.
• If you want to serve God’s purpose, start serving God’s people.
You are perfectly created by God to fulfill God’s purpose for you.

Ephesians 2:10

Comparison is the enemy of calling!
You can’t fulfill God’s purpose for you when you are comparing to someone else.

John 20:2-4

John 20:6

John 20:8

John 21:20-22

Hebrews 12:1-2

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT THIS WEEK

• Read Ephesians 2:10. Be honest: Do you really think of yourself as a masterpiece? Why or why not?

• Do you know God’s purpose for your life? If so, how are you pursuing it? If not, how can you discover it?

• What insecurities do you need to lay down so you can run the race God has marked out for you?
