What’s my mentality of leading others to Christ?

Matthew 9:9-13
v.9 As Jesus was walking along, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collector’s booth. “Follow Me and be My disciple,” Jesus said to him. So, Matthew got up and followed Him.

v.10 Later, Matthew invited Jesus and His disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners.

v.11 But when the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with such scum?”

v.12 When Jesus heard this, He said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor--sick people do.”

v.13 Then He added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
What is the Holy Spirit saying to me...about me?

1. Jesus Saw Matthew

v.9 As Jesus was walking along, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collector’s booth…

John 3:17
God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.

Colossians 2:13-14
v.13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. The God made you alive with Christ, for He forgave all our sins.

v.14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.
1. Jesus Saw Matthew
2. Matthew Follows Jesus

No One Sits Outside Of The Pursuit Of Jesus!

Jesus (without) Romance = Religious Obligation

Jesus (without) Relationship = Religion
1. Jesus Saw Matthew
2. Matthew Follows Jesus
3. Matthew’s Friends Met Jesus

Matthew 9:10
Later, Matthew invited Jesus and His disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners.

God...What is My “Later…?”
Matthews Strategy:
1. He Refused To Be A Pharisee

1 Corinthians 15:33
Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.”

1 Corinthians 15:32
And what value was there in fighting wild beasts--those people of Ephesus--if there will be no resurrection from the dead? And if there is no resurrection, “Let’s feast and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

1 Corinthians 15:12
But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?

1 Corinthians 5:9-11
v.9 When I wrote to you before, I told you not to associate with people who indulge in sexual sin.

v.10 But I wasn’t talking about unbelievers who indulge in sexual sin, or are greedy, or cheat people, or worship idols. You would have to leave this world to avoid people like that.

v.11 I meant that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer, yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worship idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats people. Don’t even eat with such people.

Matthews Strategy:
1. He Refused To Be A Pharisee
2. He Filled The House With Sick People

v.12 When Jesus heart this, He said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor--sick people do.”

If All Of The People I Love...Love Jesus...I Don’t Love Enough People…
Matthews Strategy:
1. He Refused To Be A Pharisee
2. He Filled The House With Sick People
3. He Led Them To More Than A Decision

Jesus...Wants To Hold Your Hand For Eternity!

If All Of The People We Love...Love Jesus...We Don’t Love Enough People…

2 Corinthians 5:18-20v.18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.

v.19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And He gave us the wonderful message of reconciliation.

v.20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making His appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

v.21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
