Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is coequal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son of God.He is fully God; He is not a force. He is the third person of the Trinity.
What role does the Holy Spirit when a person is saved?

1. The Holy Spirit’s home is in the believer’s life.(Romans 8:9-10)

2. The Holy Spirit seals the beginning and guarantees the end result of salvation. (Ephesians 1:13-14)

3. The Holy Spirit confirms that a believer belongs to Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:16)

4. The Holy Spirit leads the life of a believer. v.14

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”
Romans 8:14
How does the Holy Spirit fill the life of the Believer?
Ephesians 5:18-21
Being filled with the Holy Spirit means he is the believer’s…

Comforter
John 14:16-17
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.”

Teacher
John 14:26
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”

John 16:13
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”

Gift Giver
1 Corinthians 12:4-7
“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”

Strength
Acts 1:8
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Leader
Galatians 5:22-23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

Helper
Romans 8:26
“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”
What are the greatest hinderances to the work of the Holy Spirit?
1. The World.

1 John 2:15-17
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”
2. The Devil.

Ephesians 6:12
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
3. The Flesh.
Ignorance
1 Corinthians 12:1
“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed.”

2 Corinthians 2:11
“So that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.”

Fear
2 Timothy 1:7
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

Disobedience
1 Thessalonians 5:19
“Do not quench the Spirit.”

Contamination
Ephesians 4:30
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”
