-Jesus has a heart for those who know they have a problem
*doesn’t spend a lot of time with people who think they are righteous
-the first step for some of us…
*is not to become a better person so we can come to to Jesus
*is to be honest so Jesus will step in
-the next step for some of us
*decide if we want to be apart of what Jesus wants to do in our life
-most of us don’t expect to do anything when we encounter Jesus
-just like any relationship it requires us to do something
-the change that comes when we encounter Jesus will take the rest of our lives
*Zacchaeus said he would pay back anyone he had cheated 4X the amount
*have you ever thought how long that would take?
*it is possible it took the rest of his life to to make right just one thing
-we might not spend the rest of our lives doing just one thing but it easily will take the rest of our lives to change so we can live the way Jesus wants us to live
-not because there is a list that we must check off to get to heaven
-our response to what Jesus offers us freely changes who we are on a deeper level
*Jesus offers…
-unconditional love
-perfect forgiveness
-all the rewards and blessings of something we didn’t do
-the cost to us is our belief in Him
-this belief in Jesus, true belief in Jesus…
*changes our behavior—some overtime, some instantly
-do I believe in Jesus?
-have I fully grasped what Jesus offers?
