God Is: Immutable

(1) God is unchangeable in his BEING.
This provides SECURITY when we feel insecure.
(Ps. 102:27-28)
25 Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. 26 They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, 27 but you are the same, and your years have no end. 28 The children of your servants shall dwell secure; their offspring shall be established before you.

The contrast between being and becoming marks the difference between the Creator and the creature. Every creature is continually becoming. It is changeable, constantly striving, seeks rest and satisfaction, and finds this rest in God, in him alone, for only he is pure being and no becoming. Hence, in Scripture God is often called the Rock. - Herman Bavinck
Numbers 23:19
God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
"[God] is a spirit, whose being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth are infinite, eternal, and unchangeable." - Westminster Shorter Catechism
(2) God is unchangeable in his KNOWLEDGE
This provides PEACE when we’re anxious.
(Rom. 16:27; Is. 44:6)
Isaiah 44:6
Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.”
"God has known from all eternity all that which he can know, so that nothing is hid from him; he knows not at present any more than he has known from eternity, and that which he knows now, he always knows." - Steven Charnock
25 Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages 26 but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith— 27 to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen. Romans 16:27
(3) God is unchangeable in his PURPOSES.
This provides GRACE, when we’re repentant.
(Num 23:19)
Malachi 3:6
“For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.
"God is unchanging in his being, perfections, purposes, and promises, yet God does act and feel emotions, and he acts and feels differently in response to different situations." Wayne Grudem
"When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil (ra‘ah) way, God relented of the disaster (ra‘ah) that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it." Jonah 3:10

"The use of the same word (ra‘ah) underscores the close connection between human action and divine response. God did not carry out the threatened disaster because the Ninevites repented of their evil. From a temporal perspective, God responds to human action; from an eternal perspective, God chooses the means (human repenting) as well as the end (divine relenting)." ESV Study Bible
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change." James 1:17
