Mark 6:7-13

Mark 6:7

They were initially sent only to the Israelites.

Matthew 10:5-6

The next time they are sent out the restriction of no provisions is reversed.

Luke 22:35-36

The early church did not view these initial instructions as normative.
God is on a mission, and he invites us to join him.
John 20:21
“…As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

1 Corinthians 3:9 (Media Shout)
“…For we are co-workers in God’s service;”
Our mission is Comprehensive

Mark 6:7-12

We are called to take the whole gospel to the whole person to the whole world.

Galatians 3:26-28

Our mission is Urgent.
A Buddy

Mark 6:7

Companionship
Credibility
Jesus’ Authority

Mark 6:7

Definition of Exousia
So, if we’re talking about the right to do something; it can be translated Authority and if you’re talking about the ability to do something it can translated Power.
Trusting God’s Provision

Mark 6:8-9

“The minimum of provisions was meant to call out the maximum of faith.”

Matthew 6:31-34

Deuteronomy 29:6

We are to do the things that Jesus did

Mark 6:12-13

Repentance is not just feeling sorry about our sin.
Repentance is a deliberate - radical - redirection of our life. Choosing to reject and renounce our sin and life apart from God and to turn to what is right by giving ourselves by faith to Christ.
“Repentance is a grace of God’s Spirit whereby a sinner is inwardly humbled and visibly reformed.”
1. Sight of sin
2. Sorrow for sin
3. Confession of sin
“Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance…Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ…” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer
“It is God’s kindness that leads us to repentance.” We rejoice that Christ has done so much for us and continues to do for us. Our prayer is, “Lord, I am an adopted child, not a slave to sin. I am accepted because of Christ. I have forgotten how loved, secure, rich and free I am in Christ. Please let me be astonished by your love. And in the process, help me to hate my sin.”
- We go as a team and we may suffer and die as a team.

- We go with very little and even what we have can be taken away.

- Some will welcome us but others will not only reject us, they will try to destroy us.

- Preaching the Word and helping others may not result in our praise but our death.

Acts 5:41-42
