I. Water Baptism
Why Baptism Is so Important
A. Water baptism is the covenant seal of the New Covenant.
B. Baptism in water supernaturally empowers us to know and serve Jesus.
C. Baptism in water purifies our conscience from our life of sin and gives us confidence in our relationship with the Lord.
Baptism gives us greater confidence in our relationship with the Lord for two reasons:
1. We obey the first commandment of the Lord as new believers to be baptized.
2. God supernaturally cleanses our consciences, and this is key in our confidence before God but also in keeping the devil from constantly condemning us.
