As we continue our series of messages in the book of Genesis, we come to the faithful servant of God, Noah. There is a famous tribute to Noah that most of us have heard in Genesis 6:8.

Genesis 6:8

What does it mean that Noah “found” grace”? Let’s begin to answer this question with some questions. “In order to find something what must a person do?” They must first look for it! Right? Now that leads us to another question… “What was he looking for?” Grace! That isn’t surprising, in fact, it’s obvious. You may be saying, “Wow Pastor, that was a rabbit chase!”, but actually the big question is, “How do you find Grace?” This is important, Noah waited or chased after God’s empowerment, or grace. Noah knew he could not be what God wanted him to be in such a vile and corrupt world, if he did not seek God’s grace to do so. Interestingly when God gives us grace and power to walk close to Him it’s not, if you will, just a tool we receive to use, but it is actually a part of God imparted to us. It was God working with Noah. And in our case God works through us. Let me put it this way, it’s not using what God gives us, but letting God do His work through us! For instance, look at Luke 1:37.

Luke 1:37

On account of God Himself His work with Noah was accomplished.
Aside from holding on to God and His power to be a righteous godly man in a perverse society, Noah was given an assignment to “make an Ark”.

Genesis 6:14

God was going to give Noah the knowledge or grace needed to make a huge wooden box, the Ark, as a monumental sign that will save his family from the destruction of such an evil world of people.

You and I, as believers, in Christ are chosen to be a righteous godly people just like Noah was called of God to stand for Him.

I Peter 2:9

The Ark was used by God to save Noah’s family from destruction in Genesis 7:23.

Genesis 7:23

So, too, Christ was provided, as our way of salvation to save our souls from eternal destruction.

Acts 4:12

As I briefly mentioned before, Noah spent his life seeking God’s Grace to enable him to live a right life that glorified God and as a result, God gave Noah an assignment. When we as God’s people diligently seek God, so we can live lives that please Him, then God will use us not only as witnesses of God in this corrupt world, but

As we find grace, God will give each of us an assignment, as well, so we He can do His work through us!

Luke 16:10

Find God’s Grace by seeking Him and His power, so you can be the witness God has called you to be and discover the assignment God has for you!
