Why the Bible Can Be Trusted | Week 2

Why the Bible Can Be Trusted | Week 2

We are focusing on the Bible and why the we can trust in the authority of the Scriptures. We welcome Sara Boyd as guest teacher. Sara Boyd attended Northwest University where, in 2005, she earned a B.A. in Communication with a minor in Biblical Studies. In 2011, Sara moved to the country of Macedonia to serve as a Missionary’s Assistant, and in 2014, she graduated with an M.A. in Apologetics from Biola University while also working as a Student Ministries pastor. She has since transitioned from a pastoral role to one teaching Bible at a Christian high school. Sara is passionate about helping to equip Christians, and especially the next generation, in understanding why Christianity is true and how to respectfully defend it. Sara currently serves as an Adjunct Professor with the Caribbean School of Theology, and recently began an M.Div program.

Responding to Objection #2: The New Testament is full of stories that developed over time.
- We have really good evidence for early dating of the New Testament
- We need to consider history in the ancient world
hey
Here's some of the evidence for how we know the New Testament was written.
Why would the Gospel writers wait so long to record their accounts?
Responding to Objection #3: There are too many errors in the New Testament for it to be reliable!
- Because we have so many manuscripts, this really isn't a problem at all
hey
Hypothetical reconstruction:
• I can do all th#ngs through Christ
• I can do all thi#gs through Christ
• I can do all thin#s through Christ
• I can do all thing# through Christ
Important Considerations:
1. It's important to note that none of these "errors" influence an article of faith.
2. The process of transmission (copying of the text) = before printing/by Monks in poor lighting
No other ancient text is so well authenticated or reliable!
Conclusion:
We can trust the Bible!
