Hickory Valley Community Church
It's Worth The Risk
She was a beaten soul. Here are just a few phrases that describe her: "twelve years of a terrible disease"; "suffered a great deal"; "spent everything she had"; "In fact, she had gotten worse". Then she sees Jesus. It's a risk to try to reach Him. But she is about to discover that anytime you take a risk to get to Jesus, It Is Worth The Risk. Join us this Sunday, as we continue to look at a Cast of Characters from the Bible.

Only one person was commended that day for having faith. It wasn’t a wealthy giver. It wasn’t a loyal follower. It wasn’t an acclaimed teacher. The only person commended that day for having faith was a shame-struck, penniless outcast who clutched onto her hunch that he could and her hope that he would. And she had a conviction that Jesus could and a hope that Jesus would.

Faith is not a mystical experience or a midnight vision or a voice in the forest. Faith is a choice to believe that God is real and that God is good. Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. Faith is the belief that God will do what is right.
Church Board Meeting
Expand
The Church Board will have a meeting on Sunday evening, February 26, 6:00 pm, in the Fellowship Hall.
Her part in the healing was very small. All she did was extend her arm through the crowd. “If only I can touch him.”What’s important is not the form of the effort but the fact of the effort.

Healing begins when we do something. Nothing results from apathy. The great work in this story is the mighty healing that occurred. But the great truth is that the healing began with her touch. We must do something that demonstrates faith. For faith with no effort is no faith at all.

Mark records two unique things in this story: 1) Jesus heals before He knows He did it; 2) He calls her daughter.
Current Sermon Series: Cast of Characters
Expand
The people in the Bible stories were surrounded by scandals, stumbles, and surprises. Who are these people? And they were just like us. We find our stories in theirs. We find our hope where they found theirs...in the hands of an uncommon God. He passed out high callings, second chances, and amazing hope to these people. And maybe, if He found a place for them...He just might have a place for us as well. Our spring sermon series is entitled “Cast of Characters: Seeing Our Story In Theirs.”
