GOD IS HOLY

1. How is fire symbolic of God’s holiness? (See Hebrews 12:28-29)

Why was the ground where Moses stood “holy” ground?

What is meant by the word “holy?”
2. Read Isaiah 6:1-4 and Revelation 4:8

Why is God called holy three times? What does this indicate about God’s holiness?

In light of James 1:17, James 2:10 and 1 John 1:5, how is God holy apart from the rest of creation?
GOD IS LOVE

3. How is God’s holiness and God’s love related or are they mutually exclusive?

If God ceased to exist, would love still exist?

What is the opposite of fear? Why?
4. What is Moses’ reaction, Isaiah’s reaction and Peter’s reaction to God’s holiness? Why?

How does God (or Jesus in Peter’s case) respond?

How do Moses, Isaiah and Peter respond?

Despite God’s absolute holiness, how can we approach him without fear, shame or embarrassment?

How can Isaiah 64:6 and Isaiah 1:18 be reconciled with each other?

Can you relate to Moses? To Isaiah? To Peter? How so?

What can you learn from them about yourself? About God?
