Mark 4:1-20

Mark 4:1-2

You cannot truly understand the parables of Jesus unless He gives you the key to understand them.

Mark 4:3-9

Jesus is not merely asking us to let the sound of His word travel into our ears, but to allow the truth of His word to land in our hearts; for if it lands in our hearts, it will be lived out in our lives.

Mark 4:10

Mark 4:11

The key to understanding Jesus' parables is to believe that He is God come to save us from our sins.

Mark 4:12

1 Timothy 2:3-4

Those who are hardhearted toward the Gospel often become more hardhearted when they hear it again and again.
Jesus is the one who gives the gift of salvation. God saves from beginning to end, and those who do not receive the gift are responsible for their own damnation.

Mark 4:13-20

The soil of some hearts is hard.
The soil of some hearts is shallow.
The soil of some hearts is distracted.
The soil of some hearts is fruitful.
Let us rest on the promise that when we truly hear God’s word, it will grow and produce fruit! This means there is more harvest to come!
Let us be like the sower, spreading the truth of God’s word without care where it lands. After all, it is God who brings the growth. It is our lot to sow and His to make it grow.
