1. Tithe is the minimum

1. First tithe supported the priests (church)

2. Second tithe helped celebrate the annual sacred feast.

3. Every 3rd year the people would give another 10% to help the poor.

2. Curse came from disobedience

“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, because it is written: Everyone who is hung on a tree is cursed.” (HCSB)

3. Storehouse represents God’s work

“Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there may be food in My house” (HCSB)

“Each year you are to set aside a tenth of all the produce grown in your fields . . . so that you will always learn to fear the LORD your God.” (HCSB)

4. Test challenges God to bless

“‘Test Me in this way,’ says the LORD of Hosts” (HCSB)

5. Blessings are out of this world

“‘See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure’” (HCSB)

1. What you keep is all you have. What you give, God multiples.

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (NIV)

2. You reap what you sow

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. (NIV)

3. You reap more than you sow

And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. (NIV)

1. Your heart matters when you give

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (NIV)

2. You cannot out give God

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. (NIV)

3. People will thank God because of what you give

You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. (NIV)
