Thy Kingdom Come
Jesus tells us to pray for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. But what is God’s will? What does it look like for Kingdom to come? And why does Jesus tell us to pray for this? In this message, we continue our study of the Lord’s Prayer.

What is God’s will?
God wills that Jesus Christ saves sinners. (John 6:38, Mark 1:38, Luke 5:32)
God wills that His people love Him with all that we are and that we love our neighbors as ourselves. (Matthew 22: 36-40; Matthew 28:16-20)
God wills that we live holy, pleasing lives so that He Himself and Jesus Christ, His Son, are glorified in us. (Matthew 5:16, Ephesians 1:6)
God wills that all His sons and daughters become more like Jesus (I Thessalonians 4:3)
God wills that we be thankful in all circumstances, rejoice always, and that we pray without ceasing. (I Thessalonians 5:16-18)

What does it look like when God’s kingdom comes?
The Gospel is preached and people repent.
As people turn to God, they begin to love Him and others as Jesus commanded.
Those who are not yet God’s people see the good works of His people and God is glorified.
God’s people are sanctified (become more like Jesus) and joyfully devote themselves to doing God’s will.
God’s people rejoice always, give thanks in every circumstance, and pray without ceasing.
