1 Corinthians 12:7
A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. (NLT)
Spiritual Gifts Are Not:
• Natural talents
• Given to the elite few
• Sign of spiritual maturity
• Fruits of the spirit
• Something to fear
3 Groups of Spiritual Gifts:
• Ministry Gifts (Ephesians 4)
• Motivational Gifts (Romans 12)
• Manifestation Gifts (1 Corinthians 12)
Ephesians 4:11-13 - Ministry Gifts
Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. (NIV)
Ministry Gifts - Apostle: Eph. 4:11; 1 Cor. 12:28
To be sent forth to new frontiers with the gospel, providing leadership over church bodies and maintaining authority over spiritual matters pertaining to the church (Greek Word: apostolos - 'apo'=from 'stello'=send; one sent forth).
Ministry Gifts - Evangelism: Eph. 4:11
To be a messenger of the good news of the Gospel (Greek Word: euaggelistes - preacher of gospel; eu=well, angelos=message - messenger of good).

Ministry Gifts - Teaching

Romans 12:6-8 - Motivational Gifts
In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. (NLT)
Motivational Gifts - Prophesy
To speak forth the message of God to His people (Greek Word: prophetes - the forth-telling of the will of God; 'pro'=forth; 'phemi'=to speak).

Motivational Gifts - Giving
To share what material resources you have with liberality and cheerfulness without thought of return.
Motivational Gifts - Leadership
To stand before the people in such a way as to attend to the direction of the body with such care and diligence so as to motivate others to get involved in the accomplishment of these goals.
Motivational Gifts - Kindness
To be sensitive toward those who are suffering, whether physically, mentally, or emotionally, so as to feel genuine sympathy with their misery, speaking words of compassion but more so caring for them with deeds of love to help alleviate their distress.
1 Corinthians 12:7-11 - Manifestation Gifts
A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have. (NIV)

To translate the message of someone who has spoken in tongues.
How do you discover your gifts?
• Study what the Bible says about the gifts.
• Ask God to show you your gifts.
• Examine what you enjoy and do well.
• You can take a spiritual gifts test.
• Most importantly, do what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.
1 Peter 4:10-11
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. (NLT)
