Why God? part 4

ONE OF THE MOST OFTEN ASKED QUESTIONS IN CHILDREN IS WHY?

WHEN WE GET OLDER WE STILL WANT TO KNOW WHY BUT WE DON’T USUALLY ASK AS MUCH.

I believe the Bible identifies three connections that determine the why’s in our life.

When God created Adam and Eve they had three intimate connections.

#1 They had an intimate connection with their creator
#2 They had an intimate connection with the earth
#3 They had a intimate connection with each other

In the Garden before man’s disobedience and fall the connection and flow between theses three things worked in harmony and perfection.

After the fall that’s when the “Why’s” begin

· DID YOU KNOW THE FIRST TIME “WHY” WAS USED IN THE BIBLE WAS BY GOD HIMSELF?

Genesis 4:6 GW
Then the LORD asked Cain, "Why are you angry, and why do you look disappointed?

· God asks the first “why” in the bible!

Genesis 4:3-8 ISV
3 Later, after a while, Cain brought an offering to the Lord from the fruit that he had harvested,4 while Abel brought the best partsof some of the firstborn from his flock. The Lord looked favorably upon Abel and his offering, 5 but he did not look favorably upon Cain and his offering.
When Cain became very upset and depressed, 6 the Lord asked Cain, “Why are you so upset? Why are youdepressed?7 If you do what is appropriate, you’ll be accepted, won’t you? But if you don’t do what is appropriate, sin is crouching near your doorway, turning toward you. Now as for you, will you take dominion over it?”8 Instead, Cain told his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the wilderness.” When they were outside in the fields, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

· If you do what God requires in obedience you will be Happy and things go well!

· If you do not sin and it’s consequences is resting quietly waiting for any open door to wreck your life but if you repent you will conquer it!

· God spoke to Cain not with condemnation but with an opportunity to receive mercy.

· God speaking to Cain was a warning and prophecy

· The warning was that sin is always looking for an open door and Cain opened the door to sin because of his willful rebellion, anger and depression.

· The prophecy was that one day a man would come and conquer sins power

· God taught Cain that evil would await your future unless you repent. & that God will always forgive someone that will humbly repent.

· The sages teach that Cain brought an offering from the inferior portions of the crop while Abel brought the first and the best of his flock.

· Cain did not receive God’s warning and instruction instead He rose up and killed his brother and the future of Abel’s Blood descendants.

· The voice of Abel’s blood was crying out to God from the earth’s soil

Because of the Law of First Mention in the bible we can learn much about ‘WHY “ from this portion of scripture.

Remember how the first man and woman had three connections that worked in harmony and perfection.

#1 They had an intimate connection with their creator
#2 They had an intimate connection with the earth
#3 They had a n intimate connection with each other

Now we can learn about “why” as we look at the first two sons of Adam and Eve.

1. Cain’s connection with His creator was broken
2. Cain’s connection with His brother was one of jealousy
3. Cain’s connection with the earth brought negative future consequences to the families of Cain and Abel.

· Cain had a disconnection with God, His Brother and The Earth

· Is it possible that sometimes the “whys” in our life have to do with a disconnection to God, People or the Earth?

Scripture Teaches that when people of a land are treated unjustly, wounded or murdered that the land is defiled and a curse comes upon those who were instruments of injustice.

2 Samuel 21:1 GWT
In the time of David, there was a famine for three successive years, and David asked the LORD's advice about it. The LORD answered, "It's because of Saul and his family. They are guilty of murder because they killed the people of Gibeon."

Scripture also teaches that your bloodline and family tree can carry consequences into future generations.

Numbers 14:18 HCSB
The LORD is slow to anger and rich in faithful love, forgiving wrongdoing and rebellion. But He will not leave the guilty unpunished, bringing the consequences of the fathers' wrongdoing on the children to the third and fourth generation.

Scripture teaches that when you go against the original design and intent of nature their will be penalties.

Romans 1:26-27 Message
26-27 Worse followed. Refusing to know God, they soon didn’t know how to be human either—women didn’t know how to be women, men didn’t know how to be men. Sexually confused, they abused and defiled one another, women with women, men with men—all lust, no love. And then they paid for it, oh, how they paid for it—emptied of God and love, godless and loveless wretches.

Scripture teaches that people who are filled with pride, rebellion and defiance against the worship of the creator will have significant consequences.

Romans 1:18 NIV
18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness,

Nahum 1:2
He reserves wrath for His enemies;

Romans 5:9 NKJV
9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

· Many times we are asking God, “WHY IS THIS HAPPENINGTO ME?, GOD WHY?”

· MAYBE GOD IS REPSONDING AND ASKING US “WHY ARE YOU SAD OR MAD?”

· If you do what God requires in obedience you will be happy and things will go well?

· Are you giving God the best and the first of all you have?

· Are you like Cain and give God the leftovers and the inferior rather than what He requires the first and the best?

· I want you to examine yourself today, what is your connection with God, with people, with the earth?

· We need these connections to be in harmony and perfection and that can only come through the gift of repentance and the blood of Jesus
