Parenting Well | October 22
Participate in part one of a timely Parenting Well series (breakfast included!) on Saturday, October 22, from 8-10am in the Leawood Campus Student Center. We will seek to understand the particular challenges facing today’s families navigating the world of calendars, activities, and competing priorities, as well as move toward gospel-centered rhythms.
TAKEAWAY: How would you explain this sermon to someone who missed it?
REFLECTING: Remember, Daniel wrote his book as he reflected back on his life, recounting the various ways he’d seen God at work in difficult situations. Take some time to share ways you’ve seen God at work in your life. Have you ever felt like you were in an impossible situation?
SCRIPTURE: Reread Daniel 2:1-30. How would you describe the character and person of Daniel?
LIVING IT OUT: Tom communicated that in a world out of control we have the choice to turn inward or focus outward. Building off of that idea what are the different ways we retreat and focus inward, and how can we begin to focus outward, seeking the good of where we are?
ASSESSING HABITS: The spiritual discipline of prayer is so prevalent in Daniel’s life. What is something specific about your work, community, or world that you can share and commit to praying for this next week?
PRAYER: As we go into a time of collective prayer, let’s begin by recalling Daniel’s prayer from 2:20-23:
"Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might.He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings;he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him. To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise."
