II Corinthians 4:1-6- If I Can’t See It, the Sun Still Shines

I. Receive Your Ministry as a Gift- Vs. 1

II. Speak the Truth and Nothing But the Truth- Vs. 2

“To preach oneself is to vaunt one’s superior qualifications, to put on airs, and to turn the throne of Christ into a soap box from which to spout one’s own pet themes and biases. No one is immune from the temptation to manipulate ministerial relationships to build a following rather than to build up a congregation…Some ministers may do this in blatant and crude ways; others may do it in more subtle and refined ways. Cranfield observes, “How often is that which is hailed as a successful ministry little more than success in winning a personal following!”-David Garland
