Margaret Wise Brown (1910 – 1952) was an American writer of children's books, including the picture books Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny, both illustrated by Clement Hurd.

Margaret Edson quotes The Runaway Bunny in her Pulitzer Prize winning play Wit. The 2001 film based on the play stars Emma Thompson as a professor of English literature who is dying of ovarian cancer.
